How we handle your files
Remake is in beta. Here's what happens to the video you copy, your clips and your notes, in plain language.
What you give us
- The video you want to copy: a TikTok link or a video you upload.
- The clips and photos you choose to upload.
- Your notes, if you write any, and the options you pick (how close to stay and how long).
- Your answers to the permission questions (that you're allowed to use the clips and photos, that the people in them are OK with it, whether anyone under 18 appears, and that the video you copy is a reference only).
- Your email address, to send your sign-in links (or your invite code, if you have one). We don't ask for your name or a password.
- If you buy credits: Stripe takes the payment on its own checkout page and tells us the pack, the amount and your email. We never see your card details.
How it's used
Only to make your remake. Before it starts, our server downloads the TikTok from the link, or takes the video you uploaded, so the editor can measure it: its cuts, shot lengths, on-screen text, camera moves and pacing. It's a reference, nothing more. Your remake is built from your clips and a track from our music library, and a check refuses any edit that uses the original's footage or sound.
Each remake is made on its own private, isolated computer that's created for your remake and deleted afterwards. That computer has no general internet access.
To understand your footage and the original and plan the edit, the AI editor sends your notes and some images and video frames to our AI model providers (Anthropic and Baseten). Your files are stored on Amazon Web Services.
No person reviews your clips, photos or remake. Remakes are private: only you can see them here, signed in, unless you share a link to one (below). A shared remake never links to or shows the video you copied.
Share links (only if you choose)
- On a finished remake, Create share link makes a link that anyone who has it can watch, without signing in. The link isn't listed or searchable anywhere; it reaches whoever you send it to, and whoever they pass it on to.
- The shared page shows the remake, its cover image and which site made it. It never shows your email, your name, what you wrote, or your clips and photos.
- Stop sharing turns the link off at once. It also stops working when the remake is deleted, 60 days after it's made.
- We count how many times a shared remake is opened, not who opened it.
- Only share remakes that the people in them are OK with others seeing.
Invite links, and where you came from
If you arrive from a tagged link (an ad, someone's invite link or a shared remake), this browser keeps the tag for 30 days and your account records it when you sign up. We use it only to count which links bring people in. There are no ad pixels or third-party trackers on this site.
Every account has an invite link. When someone signs up with yours and makes their free remake, you get a credit. We record that their account came through yours; neither of you can see the other's email or remakes.
How long we keep it
- The TikTok we download, or the video you upload: deleted as soon as your remake is finished, or if it fails. For an upload, our storage's backup copy clears within two days. A video uploaded for a remake you never start is deleted after 30 days, like clips.
- Clips and photos: deleted 30 days after upload.
- The finished remake: deleted 60 days after it's made. Save it to keep it.
- A share link: until you stop sharing, or the remake is deleted.
Your choices
Only paste public TikToks or upload videos you're allowed to use as a reference, and only upload clips and photos you're allowed to use, of people who are OK with being in a remake. If anyone under 18 appears, a parent or guardian needs to agree. Remake isn't affiliated with or endorsed by TikTok. If you want something deleted sooner, or you have a question, write to the support address on your receipt, or ask whoever invited you.
